Texas Teledentistry Guide Published

By TxOHC

October 18, 2022

Teledentistry Protocol GuideThe Texas Oral Health Coalition (TxOHC) is excited to announce that A Guide to Teledentistry in Texas is now available to view or download from our website.

After teledentistry passed during the 87th Texas Legislative Session and the rules finalized by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) in May of 2022, we found a need to provide information for dental providers on how to implement teledentistry into their practice.

TxOHC believes this Teledentistry Guide will aid dental providers in understanding what the new laws allow and what is best practice for utilizing teledentistry.

We’ve included a short Checklist and a Teledentistry Informed Consent template you are welcome to use. The Consent form is a fillable pdf where you can insert your own logo, or copy the information and create an online form for your patients to access virtually.  We included all of the state requirements we could find for this consent form, but as with anything legal, please refer to your own attorney.  The Teledentistry Guide should be considered a fluid document in that if any rules or regulations change the Teledentistry Guide will be updated.

A Guide to Teledentistry in Texas is available on the TxOHC website at https://txohc.org/communication/coalition-publications/tx-teledentistry-guide/.

Additionally, TxOHC started hosting a 3-part teledentistry webinar series beginning September 2022. Recordings of these presentations may be found on our website at https://txohc.org/education/teledentistry-texas/ and they will also be offered as self-instructional on-demand courses for continuing dental education credit soon.
