An array of speakers will cover topics related to child wellness, to include:

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course provides an overview of key dental services for THSteps clients, requirements for reimbursement, and when prior authorizations are needed. It also includes an update to the Preventive Policy that was implemented September 1st.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
  1. Identify common dental services for THSteps clients
  2. Understand requirements for reimbursement to THSteps providers
  3. Describe administrative differences between fee-for-service (FFS) and Dental Maintenance Organization (DMO) services.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

“Upstream approach” is a term that means getting ahead of a problem to minimize or prevent it altogether. This concept is valuable throughout all aspects of public health, and that includes oral health. This presentation is about the Oral Health Improvement Program’s upstream approaches to improving oral health in Texas. Whether your background is medical or dental, you can leave today and put strategies into practice tomorrow to help head oral disease off at the pass.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
  1. Explain to a pregnant patient that dental care is safe and important for both mom and baby.
  2. Describe the condition of children’s teeth in Texas and best practices for preventing dental caries.
  3. Make a strong recommendation for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination.
  4. Describe some of the unique challenges for oral health in rural Texas and name resources that are available.
Speaker: Rhonda Stokley, DDS

Dr. Rhonda Stokley is the State Public Health Dental Director at the Texas Department of State Health Services. She has been in this role since 2016. Dr. Stokley plans and directs statewide activities that focus on education, prevention, and surveillance. Priority populations for the program are children, infants, and pregnant women. She also serves as oral health subject matter expert for the agency and other state programs. She is a member of several oral health-related committees, boards, and organizations. Dr. Stokley previously served Texas as Dental Director of the Austin State Supported Living Center and has also owned a private dental practice. She is a 2005 graduate of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry in New Orleans.

Up to 2.0 hours of CDE will be provided for this event.

Please note TxOHC’s cancellation and refund policy. Notification of cancellation must be submitted in writing 48 hours before the date of the live webinar, and a $5.00 administration fee plus online transaction fees. All refunds will be mailed after the webinar. 

Exceptions can be made for registrants experiencing an unexpected death or illness in the family and will be considered on a case by case basis by committee members.

Cancellations received after the 48 hours will not be refunded. All registered attendees will have access to the recording once it becomes available. If you registered, but did not attend the live webinar you may not be eligible to receive CDE.
