This learning series is a product of the Texas Oral Health Coalition’s 2022-2023 monthly webinar series celebrating teledentistry in Texas.  

These sessions are meant to view as a series but can be viewed separately as they are offered as standalone courses. Two parts of the series are offered for continuing dental education credit (CDE), the first course in the series, “Taking the Mystery Out of Billing for Virtual Visits” is not offered for CDE.

As part of the evaluation process, self-instructional courses contain post-training questions so learners may assess their mastery of the material.

Jamie CollinsJamie Collins, RDH-EA,BS is a hygienist licensed in Idaho and Washington states and dedicated to advancing the dental profession. With over twenty years in the dental field, it has led her to be involved in many aspects of patient care, especially those with higher risk factors. Jamie enjoys sharing the tips and tricks of the dental profession through speaking and writing for various publications, with over 80 articles published she educates dental professionals worldwide. She has been awarded the ADHA Trailblazer Award in 2021 and is the first recipient of the ADHA Standout Seven Corporate Hygienist award in 2022. Jamie has also contributed to multiple textbooks, curriculum development, and contributes as a key opinion leader for various companies. Her experience has led to her being named the Professional Education Manager at MouthWatch.

Course Description

What CDT Code do I use? Dental Coding is a mystery for many hygienists, new and seasoned. Hygienists provide dental care and procedures based upon our patients needs, but are you properly coding for what you do? The ADA defines CDT codes are intended to “achieve uniformity, consistency and specificity inaccurately documenting dental treatment” You will learn the common coding mistakes and how to identify and research the necessary codes. Protect your ethics and your license by correctly billing for care, not for what insurance will cover. Attendees will leave more confident in their coding ability and understanding.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify how to discuss coding and procedures with patients and other staff members
  • Discuss common coding questions and mistakes
  • Discuss how proper documentation will achieve metrics and can affect overall patient care.
