Texas Oral Health Coalition

The Texas Oral Health Coalition (TxOHC) is a nonpartisan statewide oral health coalition established November 17, 2004 and acquired nonprofit 501 (c) (3) status May 27, 2008.

Vision:

Optimal health for all Texans.


Mission:

Leading efforts to achieve optimal oral health across the lifespan.


Goal:

Encourage collaboration to foster whole person health, eliminate oral disparities and address health inequalities for all Texans.


Coalition Values:

  • Diversity, education, and evidence-based solutions;

  • Preventive measures and treatment that are available, accessible, affordable, timely, and culturally appropriate;

  • Community solutions that are shared among patients, parents, providers, employers, insurers, and government;

  • Collaboration with government, higher education, and the public and private sector;

  • Interprofessional collaboration; and

  • Advocacy to promote health and systems change


Strategies:

Health Literacy

To increase oral health literacy in Texas.

Change Perceptions
To change perceptions regarding oral health and disease so that oral health becomes an integral component of health policies and programs in Texas.
Engage in Activities
To engage in activities to improve the oral health of all Texas citizens using evidence-based public health initiatives.
Increase Access
To promote increased access to comprehensive oral health care for all Texans.
