Legislative News:Though the Legislative Session adjourned sine die May 29, 2017, Governor Greg Abbott called for a special legislative session began July 18, 2017. The sunset bill is the first order of business and when lawmakers pass that legislation they can move on to the remaining 19 points on his agenda.
HB 1 - Relating to avoiding the abolishment of certain agencies subject to the Texas Sunset Act on September 1, 2017. These agencies include the Texas Medical Board, Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners, Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists, Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. This bill is similar to SB20.
